Advent is a season that embraces the reality of darkness with the hope of the coming light of Christ. Although liturgically Advent begins a new year in the Church, all around us the darkness of night grows longer. In December, much of life around us begins winter sleep.
The Church has a bedtime order of prayer called, Compline. Compline offers the last prayers of the day, and the word compline means, completion. Advent Prayer: All for Your Love’s Sake is an opportunity to reflect on the bedtime prayer of Compline. Each week, there will be an introduction to the week’s theme, a scripture, spiritual practice invitations, and the prayer from which these reflections come. Use the material in any way that works for you. The invitations are simply that: suggestions that invite you to go a little deeper.
