Comfort Makers help care for others by tying quilts, making blankets, mending bedding, and providing other garments for those in need of warmth, either physically or emotionally. Quilts made by these volunteers are donated to both local organizations and those overseas. All ages and skill levels are welcome in this group. The volunteers meet on the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the lower level of the church.
Stephen Ministers provide one-on-one Christian care to people who are experiencing a loss or crisis situation in their lives. These trained, caring volunteers are there to listen, support and comfort individuals without judgement. They are not professional counselors or therapists, but rather, an empathic listener who walks together with those in need.
Grief Support Ministry reaches out to First Lutheran families during the first year following the loss of a loved one. Volunteers help families navigate the grieving process and offer prayers of comfort and healing. A memorial gift is sent to the family on the first anniversary of the death of their loved one.
