  • First Lutheran Church is looking to add a A/V Technical Director to our team. The A/V Technical Director is responsible for creating a high-quality, engaging worship experience for our online and in-person audiences. This role oversees live streaming using multiple remote-controlled cameras, a switcher, graphics, and audio systems to ensure the worship message is communicated clearly, creatively, and professionally.

    Nature and Scope of Work

    The A/V Technical Director collaborates closely with worship pastors, musicians, and staff to plan and execute live-streamed worship services at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Sundays, and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. This role leads and schedules a three-person A/V team, establishes the visual and audio style for each service, and provides real-time direction during worship.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Partner with worship leaders and pastors to translate their service vision into a cohesive A/V plan.
    2. Communicate A/V needs, challenges, and resource requirements to pastors and worship leaders.
    3. Ensure all visual, graphic/PowerPoint, and audio elements are properly prepared and supported.

    4. Maintain A/V equipment in excellent working condition and troubleshoot issues promptly.
    5. Create and manage weekly schedules for the A/V team.
    6. Direct and support team members during worship services and special events.

    Required Technical Skills

    • Proficiency with Roland AV mixers and PTZ Optics remote-control camera systems.
    • Working knowledge of broadcast, streaming, and audio production technologies, terminology, and system workflows.

    Preferred Experience

    • Background in broadcasting, live audio mixing, and/or graphics (Chyron/PowerPoint).
    • Experience in theatrical or worship production, including stage management.

    Desired Qualities

    • Clear, effective communicator.
    • Proven ability to lead and coordinate small teams.
    • Strong attention to shot composition, streaming quality, and overall online worship experience.
    • Collaborative, flexible, and supportive approach to working with both traditional and contemporary worship leaders.
