Affirmation of Baptism

For incoming 9th grade and families

Over the past 3 years of ECHO Ministry, youth have asked questions about faith, learned about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) is the culmination of this process, with the youth affirming their faith with the public profession below.

From the Worship Order of Affirmation of Baptism:

You have made a public profession of your faith. Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in holy baptism: to live among God’s faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper, to proclaim he good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth? I do, and ask God to help and guide me.

Discernment Day & Remembrance of Baptism Service RSVP- Due September 6th

Along with the Affirmation of Baptism, we hold a “retreat” for youth and families called “Discernment Day”. This year we will be holding Discernment Day on Sunday, September 20th at 12:30 pm-2:00 pm. This will be a time for your family to gather and discuss the Affirmation of Baptism with guided discussion, as well as take time to discuss Faith Statements and what is next in church involvement.

Another special service for our confirmands and families is the Remembrance of Baptism Service. This service will follow the Discernment Day “retreat” with Pastor Steve leading families through the readings and scriptures.
